explorando o East End: Thames Barrier

Sem vontade de fazer grandes programas e para evitar ficar fechada na residência o dia todo num domingo cheio de sol, lá explorei o que havia por aqui na zona este da cidade que pudesse visitar sem grandes planos. Além disso tenho andado curiosa em explorar Londres numa perspectiva menos turística e lá convidei as minhas colegas Ellie e Misako a sairmos de casa e dar um passeio no Thames Barrier Park. É um parque recente (2000) construido para regenerar e tornar uma parte da zona Este mais atrativa. Tem uma vista privilegiada para a Thames Barrier, que é bastante impressionante.

A zona Este de Londres é menos popular e turística, mas não deixa de ter os seus encantos. Aliás, é isto que me encanta em Londres: ser surpreendida ao descobrir zonas completamente diferentes sem sair da mesma cidade.

Museums at night... e uma noite de verão

De 16 a 18 de Maio os museus estão abertos até tarde com eventos ou entradas livres. Os mais interessantes estavam já esgotados (como sempre) ou antecipavam grandes multidões. 

E hoje não me apetecia fazer nada que envolvesse grande ginástica de transportes, só algo que me fizesse sair de casa depois de um dia inteiro dedicada a tarefas domésticas. Acabei por descobrir na Time Out um museu aqui perto e desafiei a Tania e a Ines para um programa não planeado de fim de dia. 

Convencida de que era do outro lado do rio, atravessamos o rio a pé pelo tunel e tentamos encontrar o museu. Uma pesquisa no googlemaps e percebemos que afinal estavamos no lado errado do rio. 

Mas tivemos uma vista incrivel do Old Royal Naval College!

Voltamos a Greenwich e apanhamos o autocarro para Canada Water, à procura do Brunel Museum. Este museu celebra a vida e obra de Isambard Kingdom Brunel que construiu o primeiro tunel debaixo de um rio no mundo! Foi com a engenharia desenvolvida na construção deste tunel que se construiu o metro de Londres. A história é muito interessante, mas preferimos a festa no roof-garden do que uma visita subterrânea. Foi uma bela surpresa! Ambiente familiar, cocktails, fogueira com marshmallows, muita conversa e uma noite maravilhosa para conversar no jardim! :)

David Bowie@V&A and London´s best burgers

Domingo é aquele dia pachorrento e irritante entre o limiar do "mais-um-dia-de-fim-de-semana (yeahh!)" e o "começou-o-fim-do-fim-de-semana (buhhhh)".

Aqui tenho arranjado sempre programa para combater o cinzento com que Londres celebra os domingos.

O Ricardo esteve cá no fim de semana passado e domingo fomos à exposição sobre o David Bowie no V&A museum (FREE).

Não deu para tirar fotos, e ainda bem porque de outra forma nao conseguiriamos disfrutar da exposição. Foi mais do que uma exposição, foi um concerto e uma aula! Fiquei fã! 

No final do dia fomos experimentar um dos Best Burgers in London @ Patty and Bun. Compreendo a fila á porta... D E L I C I O S O!!! E eu nem sou fã de hamburguers!

Depois de um dia tão enriquecedor, acabamos a ver um filme que está nomeado na categoria de trashiest trailer (!!!), mesmo bom para acabar com o domingo!

Mas soube tãoooooo bem!!

do cinzento dos dias e da saudade

Chove, arrefeceu e parece inverno outra vez.
Já me convenci que aqui a Primavera e o Verão chegam aos dias, e não em meses pré-estabelecidos.
Tenho aproveitado muito os dias por cá, mas também há dias menos agitados, mais tranquilos. E sempre, penso como tudo isto faria mais sentido partilhado a dois.
Hoje rendi-me ao cinzento do dia. Pela ressaca do fim de semana, pelas noticias menos boas no nosso país. Pela falta de luz.
Queria estar na minha casa, aproveitar o sofá, cozinhar para dois, dar e receber mimos.
Vou pegar no meu guarda chuva cor de rosa e caminhar até à aula de zumba, a ver se espanto o cinzento dos dias com musica e dança.
Já a saudade, nada a fazer...

Gooooooood morning!

Hoje acordei com esta musica na cabeça! São os efeitos de mais um fim de semana em cheio!

Foi quase como estar em casa! Veio a Cátia e o Daniel, a Alexandra e o Filipe, e o Ricardo. Fomos ver um musical, o Singin' in the Rain, prenda-surpresa da Cátia para o Daniel. Foi maravilhoso!!!
Na sexta andamos a passear em Portobello Road e em Camden Town. 

Encontramos o elétrico 28 com os pasteis de nata e café Delta

mas trocamos os sabores familiares por uma experiência nova: gelados feitos em nitrogénio. Sabores super intensos!

No sábado a Cátia e o Daniel foram de barco até Greenwich. O Daniel ficou muito entusiasmado com os militares que lá andavam a fazer recrutamento e divulgação. 

Visita ao observatório e foto em frente ao parque

Entretanto fomos ter com o Filipe e a Alexandra que vieram da Noruega. Uma volta por Borough Market, onde o Daniel se sentiu no paraíso (do queijo).  

E fotografia de grupo com os amigos de Braga e os amigos (de) em Londres no Tate Modern. Eramos tantos!

A noite terminou em Brick Lane. Fotos aos grafittis e jantar num Indiano onde é tipico negociar o preço do jantar. Não foi grande negocio, mas deu para fugir á chuva, beber umas cervejas e cantar os parabéns ao Daniel. Mais um aniversário internacional!

Summertime!

Hoje foi bank holiday (feriado) e decidimos - eu, a Ellie e a Misako - ir até Brighton porque as previsões eram de um "very warm day". A Ellie e a Misako são minhas vizinhas da residência e alunas de mestrado no Laban. Americana e Japonesa. E são muito boa companhia!

Esteve um dia lindo (uns 18º a 20º) e soube mesmo bem! Viemos todas rosadinhas, very much como as gentes daqui :) 

Antes de chegarmos à praia atravessamos o centro da cidade cheio de cor... e de gente!

E ainda encontramos um famoso graffiti do Bansky 

Na chegada á beira-mar, foi este o cenário...

Havia milhares de pessoas, montes de carroceis e o pontão é um parque de diversões!
Soube a Verão! Tão bom!!

paredes pintadas e outras instações artísticas abundam por cá transformando as ruas e os edifícios em verdadeiros museus ao ar live. Shoreditch é uma zona especialmente rica em instalações e graffitis. Cada rua é uma surpresa!
